Restoration of Austrian citizenship is possible for descendants of Nazi persecuted people who were Austrian citizens or citizens of countries that were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Italy, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Hungary) or who did not have citizenship at the time in Austria and left Austria before May 15, 1955 without having to relinquish existing citizenship. Please note a residence in the territory of actual Austria is required.
This is an amendment to the law that expands the circle of those entitled to Austrian citizenship and allows citizenship for descendants of Austrian women, descendants of those who have served permanently or in the Ministry of Defense and descendants who themselves have served permanently or in the Ministry of Defense contrary to law.
